GPLEC Privacy Policy – effective May 27, 2016.

GPLEC values your privacy, and believes that privacy must be given primacy if the internet is to become the tool for democracy, equality, and liberation many first believed it would be, rather than a tool for oppression, repression, maintenance of archaic hierarchies and power systems, and totalitarianism. Besides that, constantly being served up ads based on recent web searches you have done, or websites you have visited,is just plain annoying. The internet should be a tool for you to use to broaden your horizons, and learn about other cultures, peoples, and places, not a tool for big business to sell you things you don't need. For these reasons, our privacy policy is pretty simple.

We do not use cookies to manipulate the content you see on our websites, nor do we install super-cookies on your computer to track your – non-GPLEC websites – internet use or advertise with or through companies that use these super-cookies. Nor will we collect information related to your browsing habits and sell this information to third parties for profit.

We do record the IP addresses of all companies, crown corporations, state corporations, governments, government agencies, and individuals, that visit or access our webpages and service and maintain a log of these visits. We do this to protect our intellectual property rights in the service, as well as our rights to expand our crowd-sourced wait times information service to the emergency rooms of hospitals in other cities and nations, and our crowd-sourced wait times service to other industries and/or occupations doing business in Saskatoon, and elsewhere. In the event you violate our rights under the Terms of Service Agreement, or that we believe or suspect that you have violated our Terms of Service Agreement or accessed our website and service for a purpose not authorized by our Terms of Service Agreement or a purpose authorized by our Terms of Service Agreement and a purpose not authorized by our Terms of Service Agreement, or we believe it necessary or prudent for us to enforce rights we have against you under our Terms of Service Agreement, and/or Canadian intellectual property laws, and/or international covenants and conventions respecting intellectual property rights, we will use this information and other outside information to identify and locate you, and serve you with notices, legal demands, and/or legal documentation.

If your violation of our Terms of Service Agreement includes your provision of user-generated content that libels, slanders or defames a third party or that a third party believes libels, slanders or defames them and the third party wishes to pursue a claim against us as a result, we will similarly use your IP address information and outside information to identify and locate you in order to enforce our indemnification rights under the Terms of Service Agreement.

If your violation of our Terms of Service Agreement includes your provision of user-generated content that libels, slanders or defames a third party or that a third party believes libels, slanders or defames them and the third party wishes to pursue a claim against you as a result, we will provide your IP address information to the third party on receipt of a legal demand or subpoena.

We also record the number of page views and clicks our webpages get. We use this information for our own business purposes. Such purposes include but are not limited to: generating third party advertising on our websites, improving your access to our webpages and services, implementing strategies that induce you to reuse our service and provide user generated content, etc. Again, we do not and will not sell this information to third parties.
